Steps to Check UAE Visa Status
A visa is one of the most crucial documents in a person’s life living in a foreign country. If you are an expat living in the UAE, you need to be sure that the UAE visa is renewed before expiry. You can be fined for overstaying and there could be some legal consequences. This piece of legal document helps you find a place on rent with ease. By checking the status, you can always be a step ahead and ensure a hassle-free stay in the country.
If you have applied for a visa for your family and dependents, you can check the status online. As a tourist, you may be anxious to get an update on your visit visa or when relocating to the UAE about your employment visa.
Addressing these concerns is easy as the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship of the UAE Government facilitates easy status and application updates through its website. Read on to understand the different steps to be followed to check the status of your UAE visa online.
How to check Dubai visa status online?
The Dubai government has made it quite simple for everyone to check the status of their visa. Whether it is your residence or the entry permit, the status of the application can be easily checked using the online website of the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security, General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs, Dubai (GDRFA).
Here are the steps to guide you through the process:
- You need to first open the official site: https://smart.gdrfad.gov.ae/en
- Enter your Username and password to sign in.
- Once you are signed in, you need to choose between Residence and Entry Permit depending on the update you want.
- Next, you need to enter the Visa Number. This can be found on the visa stamped in the passport as the Residence File Number.
- You also need to enter your First Name in English. Make sure that the name that you enter is exactly what your passport says.
- Next, you need to enter your date of birth in the format DD/MM/YYYY.
- Enter the captcha, and click on the box ‘I am not Robot’ to authenticate that you are a human.
- The next page will throw light on the exact status of your visa.
If you find the above process tedious and you want to save time and energy, you can download the GDFRA App for expats that have been launched by the Dubai government. To check the expiry date, you need to follow the steps below:
- Once the app is opened, go to the ‘Services’ tab.
- Here, you will find the option ‘Entry Permit/ Residence Status.’ Click on this tab.
- Select the option ‘Residence Inquiry.’
- On the screen, you will need to enter details – your first name, date of birth, nationality, and visa code. Ensure that all details entered are in accordance with the details in your passport.
- Next, click on the ‘Inquiry’ tab to complete the process.
What you will see immediately is a green tick mark, provided all the details entered are accurate. As you scroll down, you will see all the relevant details, expiry date, number, and type. The good thing about using the app is that it is always accessible since it is on your phone and you do not have to sign-up or log in every time you need to check your visa status.
