Expo 2020: K-pop shows at South Korea’s pavilion to add excitement to the UAE’s 50th celebration
Korean band Highlight and K-Pop singer Punch are all set to take center stage at Expo 2020 to mark the UAE golden jubilee celebrations on 12th November. The huge musical festival named KITE will be virtually joined by other musical bands as well. K-Pop fans in Dubai now have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to listen to these K-Pop stars live.
The festival is co-organized by the Korean Cultural Center in UAE and the Korean Creative Content Agency. K-Pop boy group HIGHLIGHT and Soloist PUNCH will visit the EXPO site for Live Concert, and LABOUM, LUMINOUS, and BTOB will join the concert virtually from Korea.
KCC in UAE recently announced the event through their Instagram handle with the caption;
To all K-POP fans in the UAE, this one’s for you. Come and sing along with Highlight and Punch in a phenomenal live performance and dance to your favorite tunes as Laboum, Luminous, and BTOB light up the Jubilee stage virtually on November 12. When and where?
The KITE concert is free. However, you have to get an EXPO ticket for entrance. In other words, if you have a Dubai EXPO 2020 ticket, you can also access KITE on 12th November at Jubilee Park in Dubai Expo 2020. The live event will commence at 5 PM, while the virtual event will be available on KCC’s YouTube channel from 8 PM on the day. The exclusive virtual event will be replayed for the next two weeks through KCC’s YouTube channel.
Previously known as Beast, Highlight is a four-member boyband who gained tremendous popularity through their songs “Missing You” and “Outsider.”
Highlight members shared their excitement of performing in Dubai for the first time through a written statement.
“We are finally performing in the UAE. It’s also our first-time meeting Highlight fans in the UAE. We are so happy and a bit nervous already. We hope this performance will create an opportunity to see each other more often. See you soon at the Expo 2020 Dubai.”
Soloist artist Punch thanked her fans for their sincere love for Korean culture and K-Pop. She also conveyed her wishes ahead of the UAE National Day (2nd December), saying:
“Congratulations on the 50th anniversary of the founding of the United Arab Emirates.”
Korean Cultural Center at Dubai Expo 2020
KCC has arranged several cultural events for expo 2020. Stray Kids, the eight-member boy band, are the official ambassadors of the Republic of Korean Pavilion. The famous band will perform on 16th January 2022, at Expo 2020, to mark the Republic of Korea’s National Day. Fans can also witness squid game-themed events and exhibits.
